At Girl & Her Backpack, we understand the transformative power of the outdoors. Adventure Teams provide girls ages 11-17 with a safe, supportive, and exciting way to explore Utah’s breathtaking wilderness while building confidence, leadership skills, and lasting friendships.
At a Glance
📅 Season: September through November, with meetups 2x a month
📍 Location: Salt Lake County
💰 Cost: $200 per person (Refer a friend and receive $25 off!)
Why join a team?
Adventure Teams are local groups of girls ages 11-17 who meet regularly to enjoy outdoor activities and meaningful experiences.
Teams are designed to encourage connection, learning, and fun in a safe, supportive environment.
From February to May, your child will:
Participate in monthly hikes to explore nature’s beauty.
Engage in enriching activities like yoga, journaling, and indoor climbing.
Make a difference with service projects that teach responsibility and community care.
Build lifelong friendships with peers who share a love for adventure.
The schedule
September 9th at 5:30 pm
September 27th 10:00 am
October 14th at 5:30 pm
October 25th at 10:00 am
November 4th at 5:30 pm
November 15th at 10:00 am
Hikes will take place from 10am-1pm and week day activities will take place from 5:30pm - 7:00 pm unless otherwise noted.

FAQs

Adventure teams are groups of 15 girls ages 11-17.

Parents or guardians will drop their child off at the gazebo at Tanner Park before each hike.

We recommend that your child wears appropriate workout clothing for each activity, including closed toe shoes. Please have your child wear sunscreen and bring water and snacks.

Yes, if you would like to apply for a full or partial scholarship, please fill out this form.

Your child does not need to prepare ahead of time. If they want to get physically prepared, we recommend going on a 30 minute walk each day at minimum.
